Dangerous Calling

Almost 20 years ago, we took our kids to the square in Covington and watched the filming of ‘In the Heat of the Night’ starring Carroll O’Conner.  Little did we know the impact that would have on our kids.  Yesterday, we took over the square of Covington to film the Daws Brothers’ film, ‘Dangerous Calling’.  We had chase scenes through the square and intense dialogue on a park bench…the very spot that ‘Archie Bunker’ talked.  Wow…we were overwhelmed.

Week two is complete.  Many thanks to Betsy and Marco Falgiano who manage the Falling Waters Lodge in Ellijay and to Alan Dover who owns the lodge.  Thank you to the people of Ellijay who encouraged, supported, and blessed us so abundantly.

Now…week three.  We start in Winder tomorrow and move on to Armuchee/Rome, Georgia.  We again have the opportunity to show love to the cast and crew.

‘Dangerous Calling’ is a story depicting spiritual warfare that exists in thousands of churches.   A powerful woman with a Jezebel spirit controls the church.  She opposes the youth pastor because he is reaching young people who are ‘different’ and she believes these are ‘undesireables’.  When the new pastor sides with the youth pastor, the conflict intensifies.  The message:  the church must be ready to reach out to those who may be different, reaching beyond its comfort zone (John 3:16,1 Cor 10:24, John 13:24, Acts 10:34, James 1:27).  There is also an underlying message that there are some in the church who have an appearance of godliness, but do not allow God’s power to control them (2 Tim. 3:5).

God has richly blessed us.  Our children are happy.  Jenny is living out her dream of working with the monkeys and elephants at Zoo Atlanta.  Last week, little Jenny…all 100 pounds of her…bathed an elephant.   She said that their knees are like the knees of a baby…cute and wrinkled.

Jon is flying all over the country with ‘Get Motivated Seminars’ and films interviews with the speakers which include Bill Cosby, Rudy Gulliano, Tiki Barber, Peyton Manning, Ed McMann, Zig Ziglar, and many more.  He enjoys his job and was recently promoted.   He continues to play bass in a local band.

These last two weeks Josh and Jer have been living out their dream of making a full feature movie and building relationships with a cast and crew.  They are respresenting Christ well as they remain calm in the midst of tense moments on a movie set.

Josh’s wife, Becca, encourages Josh in his dreams and enjoys her job as Assimilation Coordinator at North Point Community Church.  We continue to pray she will soon live out her dream of being a mom.

We are happy, blessed, and provided for.  We recently had the opportunity to sit with a young man who does not believe in God.  He asked what we do.  We told him that we pray and intercede for familes and individuals who are hurting.  He asked us how do we get paid.  We were able to tell him about the last several years…when we need money, we simply tell only God and God sends us what we need.  He listened intently as this totally cut across the grain of what he believes.  Seeds were planted in this young man who struggles to believe there is a God.

We know that your prayers and support for our family have helped make all this possible and we sincerely thank you.

We love yall.

David struggled with this in Psalm 102:1-2 (GW)  O Lord, hear my prayer, and let my cry for help come to you. [2] Do not hide your face from me when I am in trouble.   Turn your ear toward me.  Answer me quickly when I call.

God has a plan for your life as stated in Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV)  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. God is passionately pursuing a relationship with you.

To enable your growth, God allows a series of tests to come into your life.  His process involves divine activity that allows pain. Then God will create mystery in your life bringing on perplexity.  This brings you into a search mode…you are searching for answers.  During the period of perplexity, God uses different tools. In our life, God has used 7 different tools.

  1. Drought…He will dry up resources or health
  2. Isolation…He will place you in a position where you have no one except Him
  3. Removal…He will remove you from a ministry position
  4. Darkness…He will cause you to not be able to see where you are or where you are going
  5. Complexity…He will allow multiple problems to hit at one time
  6. Attack…He will allow others to attack your character
  7. Silence…He will lift His manifest presence from your life.

The process is beautifully illustrated in Song of Songs. In this love story, the groom is Jesus and the bride is the church or the individual Christian. In Song 1:15-16 (NKJV) The groom says, ’Behold, you are beautiful, my love!  Behold, you are beautiful!’ [16] The bride responds, ’Behold, you are handsome, my beloved!’

In Song 2:3-6 (NKJV)  The bride says, ’I sat down in his shade with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. [4] He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. [5] He sustains me with cakes of raisins, He refresh me with apples, for I am lovesick. [6] His left hand is under my head, and his right hand embraces me.’  At this early point in the relationship, the bride sees  the groom only as a means to her happiness.  This is the way many new believers see Jesus.  Their attitude is ‘I love being loved by Jesus.’  But Jesus knows that He has so much more for her.  So, in Song 2:10 (NKJV)  The groom speaks and says, ’Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.’  He challenges her to come away with Him…to leave the comfort zone.  Jesus asks twice for her to join Him in the journey. Remember, the bride is symbolic of you as a Christian.  She refuses to join Him…she says, ‘No…I love these raisin cakes and I love this shade…I just love being loved by you!’

At this point, the processing begins…He allows pain and perplexity to enter her life.  Song 3:1-3 (NKJV)  She says, ’By night on my bed I sought the one I love; I sought him, but I did not find him.  [2] “I will rise now,” I said, ”And go about the city; in the streets and in the squares I will seek the one I love.” I sought him, but I did not find him.  [3] The watchmen who go about the city found me; I said, ”Have you seen the one I love?”

Jesus has removed His manifest presence in her life.  She can’t feel Him, she can’t hear Him, she can’t sense Him.  This is the dark night of the soul.

Why?  There are three practical reasons:

  1. Self examination…when God is silent, we automatically ask, ‘What did I do wrong?’  God will pinpoint the problem if there is a sin.
  2. Clean out the clutter…when you can’t hear, you shut off the tv, tune out people, and you listen to Him.  Sometimes, we just need to get the clutter out of our life.
  3. Intensity…it is like when E.F. Hutton speaks….you focus your listening skills.

But what is God’s chief reason for allowing silence to come:

Song 4:9 (NKJV)  ’You have ravished my heart, my spouse; You have ravished my heart with one look of your eyes, with one link of your necklace.’ God is so in love with you that He wants your undivided attention.  Jesus is overwhelmed with His bride…that is you as a believer!  Wow.  You are the one He delights in.  He wants you to join Him in the journey of life…full of hope and dreams fulfilled and peace!

Today…tell Jesus that your flesh is weak but your spirit is willing to join Him in the greatest journey of life.

Week one of filming of ‘Dangerous Calling’ is completed.  We are very tired…10 to 18 hours a day since Monday.  The purpose of the movie is to show that the church is to reach out beyond our comfort zone to reach people different than us.  It shows the difference between people who have a form of godliness who are not real and those who have a genuine relationship with God.  We have had a lot of spiritual warfare this week…the enemy does not want this message to go out.  We have some great footage so far…but there are things going on in the spiritual realm that are far more important than a movie!  We need your prayers.    Pray for the crew, most of whom we didn’t know when this project started on Monday.  All of them are working hard, with only a promise of pay…if the movie sells.  Pray as  we seek to build relationships with these people.  Pray for Josh and Jeremiah, the directors and writers of the script.

Thank you for your prayers.

We love yall,

Billy and Sheilah Daws

What are we doing?

For now, God has called us to be Intercessory Missionaries to the nation of ‘the hurting and wounded’.  We feel God has called us to prayer. This is our job and our ministry for right now.

Ezekiel 22:30 (NKJV)
So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.

1 Samuel 12:23 (NKJV)
Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way.

Mark 1:35 (NKJV)
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.

Please let us know your specific requests.  We begin praying early each morning.  Do not hesitate to call us. Call Sheilah at 678-793-0839 or Billy at 678-793-0840.

We will stand in the gap for you and for your children. We will ask, seek, and knock for you.   Luke 11:5-10 (NKJV)    And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; [6] for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; [7] and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? [8] I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.   [9] “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. [10] For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

We will ask God for His hand of blessing for what you want…a deliverance, an intervention, a favor.

We will seek His face for you and with you…this is seeking a living relationship with Him.  We will ask God to reveal His purposes to you in your situation.

We will knock for you until you discover the door of God’s will.

The filming of ‘Dangerous Calling’ begins Monday, June 11th in Ellijay, Georgia. This is a Daws Brothers production.  We need your prayers related to this Christian suspense movie.  Billy will be preaching in Bradenton, Florida again this Sunday, the 10th on the subject ‘Why is God silent when I need to hear from Him?’

We love yall.

There are two ways to have a name change. First, you can change your own name.  Second, someone else can change your name.  There were several name changes in scripture:  Saul to Paul; Cephas to Peter; Jacob to Israel; Abram to Abraham.  Let’s look at the two types of name changes.

First, you can change your own name.  There are times when you look at life and feel confident and strong.  At that moment, your name is ‘I am Able’.  You can function in that name for awhile.  But when you change your name to ‘I am Able’ or ‘I can Handle Life’ or ‘I am Strong’,  you are setting yourself up for a fall…pride goes before a fall.  It is disastrous to go through this kind of name change.  We need to take a lesson from John the Baptist.  People came to him and asked him if he was the one that can handle life.  They asked him if he was able to beat life.  They simply asked him, “Are you the Messiah?”  His answer was profound. He said, “I am not.”  The reason that John could say that was because he knew Jesus who was the great ‘I AM’.  John the Baptist was ‘I am not’, but he knew ‘I AM’.  ‘I am not’ is a great name to have.  ‘I am not’ able to handle life. ‘I am not’ able to cope with life’s temptations.  But, I do know ‘I AM’ and He (Jesus) can handle life for me.  (Louie Giglio has a great sermon on this.)

Second, someone else can change your name. Satan wants to change your name. He tried to change Daniel’s name and his three friends.  Why, because he wanted to change their identity.  Daniel’s whole existence was wrapped around his relationship with God.  Satan wanted to change that and replace his name with a name wrapped around a pagan false god…this would then change Daniel’s whole outlook on life.  This is why we have to guard our thought life.  When God tests us and allows us to go through the process..pain, perplexity, darkness…and then promotion, we can easily develop some negative thinking about God.  Suddenly we change our name.  ‘I am Forsaken’ or ‘I am Worthless’ or ‘I am  a Sinner’ or ‘I am Not Loved’.  These are all devastating names.  We then become who we think we are.  If you think you are ‘Loser’, you will manifest those characteristics.  Don’t let Satan change your name.  This is why Satan tempts us to sin.  You may be ‘Virgin’ but Satan wants to change that name to ‘I am Impure’.

God also can change your name for good.  Look at Isaiah 62:2-4:  The Gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory. You shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord will name.  [3] You shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. [4] You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; but you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be married. Wow! we no longer have the name ‘Forsaken’ or the name ‘Desolate or Worthless’.  We have been given a new name…Hephzibah!  What does Hephzibah mean?  It means ‘I am the One that God delights in.’ Double Wow!  As children  of God, we are ‘the ones God delights in.’

Do you see why Satan wants to put a name change on you?  When we look at the name God gives us, we know that we are loved and delighted in and cared for and protected….wow!
