I was asked to lead a Men’s Retreat for Zion Baptist Church in Covington, Georgia. This is the church my brother Frank and his wife attend. The retreat was held in Cordele, Georgia. Hal Slade and his wife have a beautiful facility located on a lake. The Slades offer their place as a refuge for believers who need refreshment. There is no charge for the stay…just bring your own food.
I caught two fish. On Friday morning, I has able to walk around the lake by myself and listen to music by Don Moen. This is some of the best worship music ever written. What a great time with the Lord!
It was good to read Song of Songs again. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords has a Song of Songs. The greatest song ever written was Song of Songs. In this beautiful love song, the goal of the journey is revealed. Song 8:5-7 (NKJV)
Who is this coming up from the wilderness,
Leaning upon her beloved?
As a seal upon your arm;
For love is as strong as death,
Jealousy as cruel as the grave;
Its flames are flames of fire,
A most vehement flame. [7] Many waters cannot quench love,
Nor can the floods drown it.
If a man would give for love
All the wealth of his house,
It would be utterly despised.
The goal of the journey is to lean on the Lord and to love as the Lord.
Thanks to the men of Zion for inviting me on the retreat.
