Know God as Father

Important to paint a correct picture…4 elements to pick up on

Represent 4 faces of a father

God loves: 1 John 3:1 (NKJV) Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. The primary defining characteristic

Behold        look at the way he loves! Replace your father

1. The Father Loves

God provides: Matthew 6:31-32 (NKJV) Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

If God clothes the birds and the flowers… he will take care

Every good and perfect gift     from above!

2. The Father provides

God protects: Psalm 61:3-4 (NKJV) For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. 4 I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah

He is a strong tower        to run to for safety

His security system has no clitches       no lapse

3. The Father protects

God leads: Psalm 48:14 (KJV) For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

God has never left his people w/o direction

Pillar of fire  cloud   vision  prophets  casting lots      voice

He orders our steps     he sets the course    sovereign will

4. The Father leads

These are the 4 faces of God!

Do as a Son

John 8:29 (NKJV) And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.”

If indeed God is the perfect father… Jesus is the perfect son!

Notice the word ‘please’     what pleases God?

Hebrews 11:6    w/o faith it is impossible to please God!

Jesus did what pleases      He trusted his father

That is why he was at peace…in the boat…asleep

He carried what was in the bottom the boat to top of water

It was the result of this incredible trust!

God said this is my son in whom I am well pleased!

To imitate the Son       we must trust the Father!

Mark 12:30 (KJV)
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

This is the perfect response to the Perfect Father!

This is not lip service

This is not flippant

This is not occaisional

Love God the Father with an all in love!

No spectator relationship

This is a no non sense relationship      where the Father is first

This is absolute loyalty!

The 1st piece of the puzzle…4 faces and two responses trust/loyalty
