Shepherd – Sheep

but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

Hebrews 13:20-21 (NKJV)
20  Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21  make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Know God as Shepherd

What is the goal of the Shepherd   to make you complete

Psalm 23:1-6 (NKJV) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

My – indicates personal
2  He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

Sheep refuse to lie down unless they are free of all fear the shepherd’s presence change

The shepherd eliminates fear

He knows where the pure still waters….refresh w/o parasites

3  He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.

Cast sheep      weighted down cast your care

4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Rod and staff         protection and rescue   authority and care

5  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.

Oil to head             Holy Spirit     care and protection

6  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.

Sheep dogs     grace and mercy

 

One of our problems is we fret over our growth

    It is the role of the shepherd  to get you to market complete

    Same in the spiritual arena      complete you

Do as The Lamb

Isaiah 53:6-7 (NKJV)
6  All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
7  He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.

Two sheep referred to

One is a rebel selfish sheep

One is an innocent lamb

 

We learn from the Lamb surrender sacrifice

 

John 10:27 (NKJV)
27  My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

So what are we to do….

Hearing

Intimacy

Obedience
